The situation was hopeless. UK main force was nearly wiped out in Isandlwana. Survivors have gathered into the missionary base near the river. However, survivors and civilians were 400 people and 4,000 Zulu¡¯s armies had surrounded the base. Lt. John Chard, Lt. Gonville Bromhead, James Dalton was responsible for this base when they heard the news of the Zulu. They had to determine the fate of people gathered at the base. Basically, theyve got two choices.
1) Joins the salvation troops after moving to Helpmekaar.
2) Fight with the enemy at the base.
They tried to move backward a wounded with supplies. But they agree that the advance of Zulu is very fast. Zulu will easily chase them in the plains because there was no protective barrier in the plain. Chard and Bromhead are building an obstacle to the entrance of the base and made a base as a fortress.
